چکیده

Background Ventricular dysfunction in patients with a single right ventricle (SRV) or a single left ventricle (SLV) is a known risk factor for morbidity and mortality. However, the differences in SRV and SLV function remain poorly understood, with only a few studies performed1-3. In this study, we measure the strain using cardiac MRI and perform comprehensive comparison of the global and regional strain in both the circumferential (εcc) and longitudinal (εL) dimension. Purpose: In normal subjects and asymptomatic patients with SLV and SRV after total cavopulmonary connection (TCPC), compare: 1) Global εcc and εL strain, 2) Regional circumferential and longitudinal strains at free wall (εcc-free, εL-free) and septum (εcc-sept, εL-sept), 3) εcc and εL across the ventricle from apex to base.

Prospective evaluation of circumferential and longitudinal strain in asymptomatic children with dual ventricles who underwent single ventricle repair: comparison to single LV, single RV and normal hearts

Background Rarely, patients with normally sized RV and LV will undergo total cavopulmonary connection (TCPC) due to the complexity of their intracardiac anatomy giving them a dual ventricle (DV) for a single cardiac output. The ventricular function in this unique physiology compared to SRV, SLV and normal hearts remains poorly understood, with few studies performed. In this study, we perform a ...

Ventricular coupling in single ventricle patients: a MRI study of cardiac biomechanics

Background Ventricular dysfunction in patients with a single right ventricle (SRV) or a single left ventricle (SLV) is a known risk factor for morbidity and mortality. In normal hearts, LV and RV augment each other, while this is not possible in single ventricle (SV) patients. Ventricular-ventricular relationship in SV patients remain poorly understood, with only a few studies performed [1-3]. ...

Right and left ventricular wall deformation patterns in normal and left heart hypoplasia chick embryos.

The vertebrate embryonic ventricle transforms from a smooth-walled single tube to trabeculated right ventricular (RV) and left ventricular (LV) chambers during cardiovascular morphogenesis. We hypothesized that ventricular contraction patterns change from globally isotropic to chamber-specific anisotropic patterns during normal morphogenesis and that these deformation patterns are influenced by...

Right ventricular myocardial deformation patterns in children with congenital heart disease associated with right ventricular pressure overload.

AIMS Longitudinal wall motion of the right ventricle (RV) has been thoroughly studied in patients with RV dysfunction. However, circumferential strain of the RV free wall has yet to be investigated. Therefore, this study was conducted to assess the utility of RV free wall circumferential strain. METHODS AND RESULTS Strain profile curves were obtained using speckle tracking echocardiography fr...

بررسی یافته های اکوکاردیو گرافیک قلبی در بیماران سیروز کبدی

Introduction: Cardiovascular abnormalities have been reported in liver cirrhosis (LC). In these patients, cardiac symptoms and physical signs occur as the liver functions worsen. Cirrhosis is associated with hyper dynamic circulation and beta-adrenergic system changes responsible for the cardiovascular abnormalities. The purpose of the present study was to explore the echocardiographic findi...
